Keeping well in Autumn
Living with the seasons is something that is encouraged in Chinese Medicine. Our bodies change with the seasons, and our lifestyle should too! Autumn in Chinese Medicine relates to the Metal element, the Lungs and Large intestine. Here are a few tips to keep us in good health through Autumn.
Wear a scarf throughout the cooler months, especially if you’re heading out at night.
Autumn tends to be quite a dry season. Look after your skin with a good quality natural moisturiser.
Hydrate with water, but also include stews and soups into your diet.
As the weather cools, coughs and colds tend to be more prevalent. Keep that hand hygiene up, eat well, rest and exercise to support your immunity. Chicken soup is a great if you feel a sniffle coming on.
Keep your bowel moving by hydrating & eating plenty of fresh vegetables for their fibre content. Include more warm and cooked vegetables and less cold salads. Adding good fats from nuts and seeds can also be great for skin and bowel health.
The energy of Autumn about letting go of what we don’t need, and preparing for the quiet, introspective Winter months.
Enjoy these beautiful warm Autumn days.
