Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese Herbal Medicine

The Chinese Herbal Medicines in our dispensary come from plant, shell and natural mineral sources. Our herbs are tested ensuring they are free from pesticide residues, heavy metals and other chemical contaminants.

  • Herbs are usually prescribed in tried and tested recipe, or Formula that is modified specifically for your presentation.

  • The strength of Chinese Medicine is the ability to tailor the treatment to your specific circumstances. We treat holistically, taking into account all your symptoms.

  • In our dispensary we have a wide range of Powdered Herbal Formulas, Powdered Individual herbs, Tinctures, Pills, Cough Syrups and herbal teas. Raw herbs, that require boiling can be ordered for you if you prefer.

Your Powdered Extract Granules

A combination for 1-15 herbs are weighed, mixed and placed into a reusable container. Your dosage is between 1-6 spoons per day, depending on the dose required.

Making your herbal remedy:

  • Boil the kettle

  • Place the required amount of herbs (written on your bottle), into a small cup or mug. One measuring spoon is roughly equal to 1.5g of concentrated herbal extract.

  • Pour around 5cm of boiled water on the herbs, give them a vigorous stir, and leave herbs to steep for 5-10 minutes.

  • Check the temperature (add some cold water if necessary) and knock them back! The quicker the better.

Syrups, Capsules, Tablets

Chinese Herbs have the reputation of tasting bitter and earthy. We stock a range of pills, capsules, syrups, medicinal mushrooms, Herbal Teas and Stock boosters (herbs to add to meals) that are more palatable.

Tinctures

Tinctures are a herbal liquid, made by steeping herbs in water and alcohol for 2 weeks to extract all the goodness. I carry formulas for Women’s Health, hormones and stress.

Tinctures are taken by placing 3 full droppers in around 3cm of boiling water, and allowing them to cool.
