What is Diet Therapy?
Chinese Diet Therapy is a branch of Chinese Medicine that understands the food we eat according to food energetics. A simplified explanation of this is:
Foods can be clearing or building
Foods can be drying or moistening
Foods have a flavour that resonates with an internal organ system
Foods can clear heat (inflammation) from the body or build warmth in the body
Some foods might be contributing to your symptoms, even if they are considered ‘healthy’
Diet is not a ‘one-size-fits-all’
Your practitioner will also give you some recommendations based upon the modern scientific explanation of the nutrients in food.
The recommendations are simple, based on common sense and don’t require purchase of weird and wonderful ingredients that you’ve never eaten before.
